Our hire boats provide seating for up to 8 people.  Two of our fleet have an onboard toilet and sliding roof, which opens, to offer an open air experience, providing lots opportunity for sightseeing down the river. Self-drive boat hire on the Fossdyke has a lot to offer for a family or friends fun experience.  New to boating or an experienced boater will easily manage our lovely river cruisers, to help you get away from it all.

Burton Waters will provide you with the tuition you need for a fun day out. Lifejackets, insurance and fuel is included in our prices, to make life simple.

Burton Waters Marina is situated off the Fossdyke, the oldest canal in England, thought to have been built around AD 120 by the Romans.  When you leave the marina basin, turn left to take yourself down into the Brayford Pool and enjoy the sites of the historical City of Lincoln.  Travel through the Brayford and continue under the Glory Hole, to take in the City centre.

When you leave the marina and turn right, enjoy the open countryside and cruise all the way to Torksey Lock, where the Fossdyke meets the tidal River Trent.  You can travel as far as Torksey Lock

Full day hire is 10.15am til 4pm. Take to the water and explore the beautiful Fossdyke River stopping off at any of the various pubs along the way.  The majority or boaters bring a picnic, so that they have enough time to take in both routes.

An open boat for six people propelled by electric, allowing you to enjoy a quiet day out on the water with family and friends

An open top boat able to fit 6- 8 people propelled by diesel power, the largest of our fleet, seating 8 persons.  But don’t let the size put you off, this one is easy to steer, with a traditionally positioned steering wheel.  Although there is no dining table, there is still plenty of room onboard for picnics. Providing you with the perfect opportunity to spend time with your friends and family.

One of our original hire boats, the Dambuster is both spacious and practical with seating for up to 6 persons.  A sliding roof opens, to offer an open-air experience, providing lots of seating space for sightseeing down the river.  Although there is no electricity on board, there is room for dining, with the table layout.  There is also an onboard toilet, for your convenience.

The second of our original hire boats, the Imp is also both spacious and practical with seating for up to 6 persons.  A sliding roof opens to offer an open-air experience, providing lots of seating space for sightseeing down the river.  Although it is similar to its sister the Dambuster, there is no table facility.  There is also an onboard toilet for your convenience. The Imp is pet friendly, so you can bring the entire family for a cruise down the river.
